What behaviour issues do you see pets for?

Your pet's behavior issues can substantially reduce quality of life for the both of you. When this starts happening, it's time to get help. If you're witnessing any of these behaviors, it's important to visit our team to rule out medical causes and treat them as necessary, then to address purely behavioral issues. Common behaviour issues include:

  • Aggression/biting
  • Withdrawal
  • Touch sensitivity
  • Scratching
  • Urinating
  • Crying or whining

What is one of the most common behavior issues you treat?

The most common behavioral issue in dogs is aggression, which can lead to biting. This is an issue even with small dogs, and ranges from frightening growling or barking to actual biting and shaking. Dogs could become aggressive to protect owners, territory or possessions, from fear or pain, or a variety of other causes. Our veterinary team will first work towards determining its cause so we can effectively treat it.

Why is my pet acting out?

If your dog or cat is unwilling to play, engage with humans or other animals, or is refusing to drink or eat, this could be a sign that something is wrong. Often this is related to a medical issue, and could indicate your pet is in pain. Especially if your pet reacts strongly to being touched and avoids contact, they could be safeguarding the source of their pain. Led by our veterinarian Dr. Oliver Sterbinsky, we can help address a variety of behavioral and health issues.
